Dec 16th-17th: Windy Wellington and Picton

These two days flew by. The 16th we met up with two friends the Frawleys have previously met. Ray and Carole Martin. They are from Christchurch and flew out to meet us in Wellington. It was kinda of rough, for some reason I was super tired all day, so kind of a basket case. In Wellington we road the historic cable car which is built out of square so when it rides up the hill you are sittng upright. At the top we walked around a park, where we saw old observatories. From there we worked our way back to the main drag. We walked to the Te Papa Museum, which was huge. We only saw parts of it but there were some pretty neat displays.

The next day we landed in Picton. This was a nice little town. We only had half a day, but still got to experience the downtown and the beach. The beach was an interesting one. It was made up of many small pebbles and round stones instead on sand. The water though was very chilly. I didn't go swimming but I imagine it would have been much like swimming in Maine. Later that night after dinner we decided to go check out the stars (lol, this was really one of the first clear nights we had since we got on the boat) They were phenomenal! I thought I had seen many stars when on the lake, back at home, but I was wrong. You could see millions upon millions of them. It was amazing. I wish I could catch it with a camera and share, but the camera could do no justice.

Well I will leave it at that. I will share todays adventures tomorrow.

Enjoy the pictures!

  2. Heh Danny and company,

I've been slacking off on reading your blogs...sorry.
Glad your all having a good time! Your pictures in the last few blogs were awesome of the waterfalls, really beautiful. I have to ask what that huge orange thing is in the pool of water at the mueseum, it looks like a stingray to me(looks scary). The silver car was nice, but I can't figure out what kind it is, maybe a corvette??
Nice to hear that CO's are giving the same talks in other countries, what a great brotherhood we have! Snow has been heavy out here in Shaftsbury and we are suppose to be getting a good storm this weekend, might be taking out the sleds.
Have fun and stay safe. :)
